Ministry for Gozo

Ministry for Gozo | Malta

The Ministry for Gozo is the public authority responsible for supporting the economic and social prosperity of Gozo and its residents, while taking into account the island’s unique characteristics and development needs. The Ministry plays an important role in influencing national policies and directing national funding programmes towards priorities that contribute to Gozo’s long-term development and quality of life.

Over the years, the Ministry has managed and implemented a wide range of major capital projects across the island. It also invests in and administers sector-specific support schemes, promotional initiatives and cultural programmes designed to strengthen the sustainability and competitiveness of local economic operators, attract investment, diversify the economy and create new employment opportunities.

The Ministry follows a sustainable development approach that brings together economic, environmental and social objectives. As a major public-sector enabler in Gozo, it works to improve the well-being of residents and the business community while supporting resilient and responsible regional development. Its work is guided by core values including fairness and transparency, efficiency and timeliness, integrity and sustainable development.

Within RestaCOVE, the Ministry for Gozo contributes the perspective of a regional public authority responsible for policy implementation, economic development and sustainability. Its involvement supports stronger links between public policy, vocational education and training, local employers and institutions, helping connect project activities and results with regional skills needs, green and digital transformation, and the long-term uptake of sustainable collective catering practices.
